Center Health Occupation Students of America
Club Sponsor: Nicholas Hanle & Carrie Tucker
HOSA is a national organization whose purpose is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.
Any student attending the Center for Public Health and Advanced Medical Studies may participate in Center HOSA. By having our own HOSA program in the Center, we are able to allow students from the 5 different high schools in our district to compete together on teams.
Last year, 44 members of Center HOSA competed at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in March. We had 28 students finish in the top 10 in their event. Twelve individuals qualified for the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim California. Emi Cook (Nutrition) and Makayla Blakely (Medical Assisting) finished in first place. Heenali Fozdar, Peyton Smith, and Alaina Spigner (Health Education), Amanda Lyon and Slone Taylor (Forensic Science), Katie Smith, Peyton Benson, and Lexi Cooper (Medical Innovations), and Hannah Williams (Physical Therapy) finished in second place. Preeti Chandekar finished in third place for Epidemiology.
